PUPPET & ANIMATION FESTIVAL |
|
Puppet Animation Festival
The Puppet Animation Festival is the UKs oldest and largest performing arts event for children and young people. Founded in 1984, the Festival has grown from 14 performances at the Netherbow in Edinburgh to the presentation each Easter of over 200 performances, workshops and films in more than 100 venues throughout Scotland. Each year over 16,000 people enjoy our programmes. Leading companies from the UK present productions alongside the work of the best ensembles from Europe and the USA. As a Scottish Arts Council core funded organisation the Festival is increasingly involved throughout the year in helping to develop Scotlands puppetry sector through advocacy and practical initiatives such as its Creative Development Through Rehearsal Fund for professional puppeteers. Over the next eighteen months the Festival will reshape its structure to reflect this growing role, while retaining the Festival itself at the core of its identity.

| The Puppet Centre Trust |
Puppet Centre Trust
The PCT was founded in 1974 to support and advocate the art form of puppetry and the needs of British puppeteers. The Centre exists as a practical resource centre and agency for all forms of puppetry.
The PCTs objective is to develop the practice of puppetry, provide services for puppeteers and to increase the accessibility, awareness and practice of puppetry, in collaboration with other relevant organisations.
The PCT runs a bi-monthly web magazine Animations Online and organises workshops and seminars alongside national and international practitioners. We have an extensive library of specialist books, slides and videos and a historic collection of puppets. The PCT works with schools and local art groups to give children and the wider community the opportunity to experience and participate in puppetry making and performance.
The PCT plans to work as a national development agency for the art form, focussing on providing training workshops and master classes, a forum for discussion and debate and a programme of art form development activity.
