Shows: Child £4.95 Adults £5.95 / Workshops £6.95

Shows Suitable for 3 years + Reservations: 0141 339 6185. Tickets must be collected: minimum 15 minutes before the start of the performance. Payment: cash or cheque on the door. Cancellations: by 11am on the day.
Shows vary between 45 minutes - 1 hour in duration. Workshops are up to 2 hours in duration.

Thurs 5, Wed 11 – Fri 13 & Sun 15 April 2012 BEHIND THE MASK * FREE EXHIBITION * BY SMPC 11.00AM – 4.00PM
We are delighted to announce that we will have our mask collection on display in our studio theatre on the following dates over Easter 2012.

Our cafe will open for refreshments and there will be a DROP-IN CHILDREN’S MASK MAKING TABLE - £1.50: 11.00am - 1.00pm & 2.00pm - 4.00pm on 15th April.

SMPC’s children and family programme aims to introduce you to touring companies both national and international. Their work includes aspects of glove, rod, marionette, shadow, table-top and black light puppet theatre. We also promote performances, which use mask, mime, storytelling, music, magic and entertainment. We endeavour to give birthday mentions to all children if informed in advance.
We reserve the right to make any changes deemed necessary to our programme.

Laughter and fun from Talking Heads Puppets! Meet Cheeky Robert and Ben in a Basket! Do you believe in the Loch Ness Monster? Maybe Angus McGregor, the keeper of the Loch's secret, can help you see Nessie! What about little Jack, can you and Angus convince him that Nessie exists?
SAT 28 JAN THE SNOW QUEEN * FOLDING THEATRE COMPANY 2.00PM
Iain Halket brings Hans Christian Andersen's classic fairytale magically to life in his distinctive style. Little Gerda sets out on an epic adventure to find and save her playmate Kai, but her adventure is only just beginning as she makes her way to the wintery, brrrr... northern tundra!
SAT 4 FEB DIVING BELLE * CLYDEBUILT PUPPET THEATRE 2.00PM
Tide in, Tide Out.....join Clydebuilt as they dive into the magical world of Belle's Carousel Cafe. Meet Tom the Lighthouse Keeper, who fishes by the jagged rocks and watches ships by night. Everything seems fine and dandy, until one day a storm brews up.....! Watch out for the crab!
SAT 18 FEB OSCAR & THE QUEST FOR THE UNDERGROUND PRINCESS * MOUSETALE 2.00PM/4.00PM
How can a mother mouse keep her son out of mischief? She can't! Oscar is irresistibly drawn into an underground myth when he receives a mysterious riddle to solve. Armed with nothing but a cream bun and an electric guitar, he has lots of fun along the way!
SAT 25 FEB PIRATE PETE * MR GIGGLES 2.00PM
Anchor's away with Pirate Pete, who is in search of a fresh crew, for a pirate adventure of magic, music, games and competitions, aboard the high seas. Fun and mirth guaranteed! Magic and entertainment show, children are welcome to come in fancy dress.
SAT 3 MAR THE THREE BILLY GOATS GRUFF & OTHER TAILS! * KIDGLOVE PUPPETS 2.00PM
Have you noticed how animals often have adventures in threes? See the Billy Goats Gruff outwit the greedy troll; sing along with The Three Bears; and help the Three Pigs scare away the wolf. A participatory show with lots of music introduced by the mischievous Algy the dog.
SUN 4 MAR RED RIDING HOOD & OTHER TALES * KIDGLOVE PUPPETS SUN/ 3.00PM
Who's afraid of the big bad wolf? Not Red Riding Hood. In this fun version of the tale Mr. Wolf's day goes from bad to worse when his cover is blown… in fact his pants! Kidglove also presents The Frog Prince and a famous red nosed character ends the show!

"Princess Elizabeth is beautiful and rich and about to marry Prince Ronald…until a dragon destroys her castle, burns all her clothes and carries off the Prince. How could he! However Elizabeth is no ordinary princess. She is off to get Ronald back"……!

He is coming to town in his own inimitable style, not forgetting Judy, the Crocodile, the Sausages and the Policeman. Get ready to shout 'He's behind you' and experience all the fun of the tradition….

In partnership with Magners Glasgow International Comedy Festival www.glasgowcomedyfestival.com A rod puppet workshop that never fails to delight children and adults alike. Come and make your own character from all the bits and bobs. Will your puppet have a big nose or spiky hair? How comical will your puppet be? Guaranteed to evoke laughter and lots of fun.

SAT 21 APR GALOSHINS * SOKOBAUNO THEATRE 2.00PM
Some slick sword fighting, and a wonderful miracle maker in the shape of Old Doctor Brown - the finest doctor in the town! He will get you laughing. Galoshins is an old Scottish mumming play from Fife told with glove puppetry, live music and folk song by Alasdair Roberts and Shane Connolly.
SAT 12 MAY THE MAGIC HORSE * YUGEN PUPPETS 2.00PM
Meet a Magic Horse that takes you wherever in the world that you wish to go and Fingle, the hero of our story, who takes the Magic Horse on an adventure to find a princess for a very lazy prince! Performed by Alison Monaghan of Yugen Puppets, with lots of audience interaction.
SAT 19 MAY THE THREE PIGS AND OTHER TALES * POPPY'S PUPPETS 2.00PM
See Poppy Browne and her tiny tales, using puppets and a pinny. See the story of the Three Little Pigs, featuring, Hamlet, Porkahauntis and Sleepy Bacon. Then there is Edward the Shepherd Boy, who loses one of his sheep! Also featuring, Little White Duck and Little Red Riding Hood
SUN 10 JUN LAPIN WANTS ICE CREAM * TANIA CZAJKA SUN/ 3.00PM
Tania is just back from Brittany. In her suitcase, she has brought back a tiny French beach where a little rabbit has made his holiday home. Lapin is thirsty! What will he have to quench his big thirst? Join Lapin and his friends in their summer adventure. A fun and colourful visual show with French keywords carefully scattered throughout English text for all budding young French speakers and holiday goers this summer to send you on your way.

Our next show season commences September 2012. Puppet making workshops can be booked throughout the summer for summer outing; schools, groups and birthday parties.

BIRTHDAY PARTIES AT SMPC
Why not book a birthday party in conjunction with a Saturday performance (3yrs +) or book a birthday party puppet-making workshop for 5yrs +?We provide the party food, organise the show party games and give each child a party bag to take away. We ask that you bring the cake…. and the kids!
RECYCLING PUPPET MAKING CAN YOU HELP?
At SMPC we like to recycle as much as we can and are always on the lookout for scrap fabric, wine corks and bottle tops make great puppet noses, knitting wools make great puppet hair. If you would like to have a clear please drop them in at the Puppet Centre any show Saturday . Thank you.

Payment is by cash or cheque on the door on the day. If necessary, cancellation of a reservation by 11am on the day of the performance allows someone else to take your place. Thank you.
